From here you can find a cars going in all directions. That makes it easier and harder at the same time. But it's still a great spot. I just needed to go for a better gas station near Luton on my way north. You can charge your phone inside and there are free toilets inside. As around and you will find someone.

Great gateway-spot. I waited 15 min and a woman took me to the gas station up the hill in her Jaguar. From there I quickly found a ride to London (could've gone to Luton if I wanted)

We spent a long time in the gas station speaking with people, but everyone was going to London, so when it stopped raining we crossed the road and got a car to Luton. The M&S crew is lovely and can help you

After 1 hour of waiting at the eastbound exit with a "M1" sign two cars stopped at the same time: one going to Luton and another to Sheffield.

After we made a boards withh M1 - SOUTHH somebody finally stopped, but we separated with hme friend and she HH at theh roundabout whhile i waited hhere with th amazingly cute bunnies!!! :-D the funniest thing that we started in birmingham and wanted to reach Luton... (oh jeah our previous driver doesnt know whhere is London probably...)

Roundabout just by the entrance to M1 junction 11. This is not a great spot by any means - I only used it by necessity. However, I guess if you're starting your journey in Luton this might be a decent spot. Alternatively try Flamstead services just off the motorway at junction 9. A trucker told me he thought that would be a better bet.
